Sign up for Aldersgate’s upcoming Family Life Weekend July 15 – 17, 2011. We still have spaces available for families!
Through the ages God has directed His people to share the truth of His love for each of His children with each successive generation. Accepting our calling to our children and helping them grow in faith can be a real challenge. Dr. Don Schuessler, Jr. will serve as the resource person for Family Life Weekend 2011, leading the adult sessions in considering how we can most faithfully answer God’s call to our hearts in this area. Don is a pediatrician in Gouverneur, NY and is an active member of the First United Methodist Church in that community.
Families of any shape or size … young or old … and singles, too! … are invited to come away for a time of spiritual renewal and relaxation in the Adirondacks. The weekend begins late Friday afternoon with an evening buffet supper, and concludes after a Sunday midday dinner with a closing prayer circle. Opportunities for swimming, boating, singing, archery, softball, and volleyball complement the times of teaching, allowing for enjoyable times of fellowship. Saturday morning Chapel in the Pines, Sunday Family Worship, devotions around the campfire, and special family communion provide encouragement and opportunities for faith growth and development. Teaching times during the weekend are provided by age group (children through adults), with a nursery provided for the wee ones.

The National Military Family Association announced that Aldersgate Camp & Retreat Center in Greig, NY was chosen to host their popular Operation Purple summer camp in 2011. The Association developed this free summer camp program to support military children, ages 8-17, dealing with the stress of war.
“Our mission is to empower these military children – our youngest heroes – to develop and maintain healthy and connected relationships, in spite of the current military environment. Kids attending Operation Purple camp will have the opportunity to learn the skills to cope the stress of a deployment and make friends with other kids who are also missing their mom or dad,” said Mary Scott, the Association’s Chairman of the Board. “The National Military Family Association is excited to work with Aldersgate on this very worthwhile program.”
“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to say ‘thank you’ to our military families for the sacrifice they are making on behalf of our country,” said Deborah Townsend, Director of Aldersgate. “The staff of Aldersgate is excited and honored to have been chosen to host this program for a fourth year.”
Aldersgate will be transformed during the week of July 31st-August 5th to help kids ages 8-17 years old understand that “They, too, serve.” Campers will experience the key elements unique to the Operation Purple® program, and take part in many recreational activities.

Dear Camper Families,
Access to the eCamp system (where you log into view photos and send e-mails) will be periodically unavailable from 11:00pm EST Wednesday 7/29 to 6:00am EST Thursday 7/30, because of performance on their hardware maintenance. Both eCamp Admin tools and eCamp Parent Site access will be affected during this time.
We will attempt to upload photos for the day prior to the website shutting down, however access will be limited. We ask that you be patient, and we will have everything up and running by morning. We are working with eCamp and their staff in making sure that this is as smooth as possible for all of our camper families.
Blessings,
