First Followers Advance (Retreat)
October 17 – 19, 2011
He’s been called one of the church’s most important and provocative thinkers – one who “sees things the rest of us do not see, and dreams possibilities that are beyond most of our imagining”. His messages are uplifting, hopeful and relevant. For two years in a row he was selected as one of the “50 Most Influential Christians in America,” and in 2010 was selected by the largest Christian non-English Internet site as one of the “Top 10 Most Influential Christians in the World.”
Len will be giving us a first “peek” at his upcoming book “I Am A Follower” which Thomas Nelson is publishing early in 2012.
This retreat (Len prefers to call it an “advance”) will be a time of reflection, renewal, re-creation and learning intended to equip, prepare and challenge us to become more committed followers of Jesus and to better “follow the Leader.”

Do you sometimes feel as though you REQUIRE chocolate? There are days when that certainly seems to be true, especially for women! But regardless of our ability to resist or deny our chocolate cravings, it may help us to remember what God requires of us.
The prophet Micah sought to bring God’s Word to people who had many ideas about what God might want from them – some thought sacrifices, some thought lavish offerings, some thought nothing. Micah preached that God sought three things from God’s people: doing justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with God. Honest and just relationships reflect a core of integrity. Kindness comes from a heart of compassion. A worshipful life issues from modesty – knowing our place before God.
Join with other women and deepen your spirit while reflecting on Micah’s simple description of the life of faith. Prepare special chocolate treats as sweet offerings of kindness for others. Of course, we will carefully test them in the chocolate kitchen.
Diane Murdock, third generation chocolate dipper, will bring her grandfather’s invention: the Hilliard’s Chocolate System. We will sample a variety of everyday and gourmet chocolates to determine which type fits your pallet. Use the Hilliard’s Chocolate System to create homemade chocolates and decorate a gourmet box to take home. Each chocolate lover will take home one pound of their homemade chocolates. On Saturday, we will even have a visit from a massage therapist.
If you are not able to spend the entire weekend, come for one overnight.
