The Huber Family
As a camper at Aldersgate, I spent time in the Bog searching for interesting wildlife and even won first prize for finding an albino frog. I remember singing around the camp fire and in front of the magnificent stone fireplaces in the Walker Dining Hall. As a camper at Casowasco I spent time around the huge fireplace in Bethany Pit, made crafts, hiked The Gorge, learned to build and fly hot air balloons and swam in a lake. As a teenager, I played my guitar and sang a solo in front of my peers for the first time in the Foster Center. Seeds planted in my life by adults at Aldersgate and Casowasco have helped nurture me into the person I am today. I know first hand how an experience at camp can change a life forever.
You will find the atmosphere at Aldersgate and Casowasco to be friendly, loving, caring, fun, exciting, and passion-filled. We provide a safe place where children and youth can find themselves, define themselves, and just be themselves.
Our mission is to provide programs for the purpose of Christian education and spiritual birth, growth, and renewal. Sending your children to a fun-filled, life-changing week or weeks at summer camp is an investment in their lives. Our low camper to staff ratio helps to ensure a positive experience for each camper. First-time and returning campers alike will be able to experience something new at camp this year. Aldersgate has a quality program that continues to impact the world by impacting the children and youth of the world.
We're look forward to making your summer camping experience the highlight of your year.
In Christ,
Mike Huber, CCRM Director
Our theme for Summer 2009 is… Breakthrough!
Join us as we travel an amazing journey learning more about who Jesus is and the impact He has on our lives. Meet some of the people Jesus met through His ministry here on earth.
Are you ready to hear stories about people radically changed by this holy man? We’ll learn how being a true neighbor can bring a breakthrough in understanding what God means by “loving one another”, and who God calls us to love.
Our ministry is blessed with an amazing staff! Our purpose is to help campers and families grow closer to Christ. To accomplish this, we train enthusiastic staff who are excited about Christ and about making a life-changing impact on our kids. They are eager to have an awesome week (or eight!) with each camper, making memories that will last a lifetime.
Experience with children, personal and spiritual maturity, and aptitude for building healthy relationships within the camp setting are crucial in the selection of our staff. Their love for Jesus, people, and life in general makes them the great role models we want for your children. The average age of our summer staff is 22 and most are college students. Some are school teachers and coaches. The maximum camper to counselor ratio is eight to one and often as low as five to one. The camper to staff ratio averages a very low three to one.
In addition to a full time staff, we are blessed with dedicated volunteers. These generous individuals join our team for a week or more, serving in a variety of roles. Our entire staff is carefully screened and trained to ensure the safety and enjoyment of each child in our program.
